Unhook – Phone app for tobacco, shisha & e-cigarettes information

From 1st October 2015, the sale of e-cigarettes and e-liquids to people under the age of 18 became illegal unless the product has been licensed as a stop smoking medicine by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). No products are yet available. It is also became an offence for anyone over 18 to buy e-cigarettes, e-liquids and tobacco, including shisha on behalf of a young person.

In order to increase awareness of the new legislation and address the current rates of e-cigarette and shisha use, the Wellbeing Prevention and Early Help Service, has co-created a mobile phone app ‘Unhook’ in partnership with young people from across Lancashire to inform them of the facts about tobacco, shisha and e-cigarettes and how to access support to quit. This includes an ‘Into the Body’ interactive feature, savings calculator, myth busting quiz, helpful hints, tips and details of relevant tobacco and nicotine cessation services to stay addiction-free.

The Unhook App is available for young people to download free of charge from the App Store using the link below:
